5th Avenue is a community-oriented shopping district balancing a mixture of local mom-and-pop shops as well as national chains. Over 600 individual businesses line 5th Avenue, spanning from 38th Street to 64th Street, offering a balanced mix of traditional and contemporary apparel, services, and general and specialty merchandise. In addition to the great shopping, the surrounding area also has an array of restaurants, cafes, and specialty food stores from every corner of the world, serving the multicultural population of Sunset Park.

Sunset Park is a 24 ½ acre public park located between 5th Avenue and 7th Avenues between 41st and 44th Streets. Visitors can enjoy the fantastic views of New York City and beyond. In addition to the rolling hills, the park contains a playground, recreational center, and pool. The Sunset Park Recreation Center is a NYC designated landmark.

In June of 2019, the NY Landmarks Preservation Commission voted to designate four historic districts in Sunset Park. The four districts contain large concentrations of high-quality architecture, including rows of brownstones and historic brick townhouses that surround 5th Avenue.

The Basilica, located on 5th Avenue between 59th and 60th Streets in Sunset Park, Brooklyn is a Roman Catholic parish church of the Diocese of Brooklyn, dedicated to Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Construction of the current church was completed in 1928.
