Our Mission:
The Sunset Park BID is dedicated to promoting the economic success and improving the quality of life for Sunset Park, Brooklyn’s Fifth Avenue.
A small annual assessment on each property in the BID allows us to: Hang light pole banners, sponsor and produce community events, support new and long-serving merchants, advocate for Sunset Park with City Agencies, pick up trash, cover graffiti, hang holiday avenue lights, host community groups, sponsor local volunteers and block associations, serve on community advisory boards, and take care of our street trees.

We were founded in 1995 building on the work of Sunset Park’s “Fifth Avenue Merchants Association.” Our all-volunteer Board of Directors are local merchants, building owners and residents. We have 2 staff members. The Sunset Park BID has been a key resource during Sunset Park’s economic recoveries of the 1990s and then again during & after the COVID-19 pandemic. Our office distributed over 2 million PPE items for free to the community and took a leading role helping merchants navigate pandemic regulations.
